Howdy Hoopers:)
I am a brand new member and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Sara. I started getting interested in hooping this year at the spring PDF and am trying to make friends in the hooping community. I admit that I am not a very talented hooper but my goal is to be a fire hooper and I am looking for people to help me learn. I am also going to be making hoops this weekend out of some poly tubing I am getting from Lowe's if anyone has good directions I would love the extra help!

    Hi Sara!
My dad is a plumber so he has let me use some of this tools to cut the tubing. I usually take a tool called a "Rigid" used to cut the plumbing tubing. I buy the cupplings to match the pipe. For example, if you get 160 PSI tubing at 3/4 an inch then you need 3/4 inch width cupplings to attach the hoop. I cut the 3 "spikes" off cupplings with cutters. (man, I wish I would have paid attention to the name of the tools) Then I file down any parts that are not smooth with a plumbing file. Finally I boil a pot full of water, stick one end of my tubing in the water for 45 seconds, slide the cuppling through, run that side under cold water, and repeat on the other side.

    I hope this helps :)

Thanx! I found everything I need and I made one last night. It looks like a candy corn. I am really excited to hoop. Today during my lunch break I decided to get out some off that energy. It did the exact opposite, I got more energized and really want to learn the tricks that go with it.

Very Halloweeny! Some folks from the tribe are meeting up at Fort Hunt Park at 11 if you want to join. Hope to see you there.

welcome to hoopoholicism! The best part of hooping is that it seems to give more energy rather than take it away. I think that is why they are so hard to put down. Something about spinning around in circles.

I am new in town and have been fire dancing for about three years. I would be happy to play with people who want to learn fire hooping. especially if you have good ideas about where we can practice.

I am happy to play today if anyone wants to come out this evening. Otherwise I am free on the weekend and on Wednesday (after 5:30pm). Really want to get my hoop on!

Lowes in Woodbridge has a good stock/supply. Unfortunately the Lowes in Alexandria on Richmond Highway never has tubing or cupplings.

Hey Hoop Lovers.....I'm a new Hooper in RVA and would love to take a little day trip up to DC for an afternoon of hooping. We hoop here in Richmond on Sundays in a local park, but I'd like to venture out a little for fun. I'm orginally fom the DC area so I'm somewhat familiar with the area. Any suggestions? Oh....and I do have a fire hoop. It hasn't seen nearly the amount of flight time as it deserves...I'd love to have some help.
