We need to get going on organizing something for World Hoop Day 2008, which is August 8, 2008. The goal is to organize an event that gives away as many hoops as possible.
1. Who wants to help and participate?
2. Who can make hoops or has hoops to give (how many?)
3. Where should we have our event (this is on a Friday.

Tue, July 8, 2008 - 8:59 AM1. I would like to participate! i do work that day so I will be there post 5 or 6 pm.
2. Undecided on the exact number of hoops - but I have about 10-15 that I am prepared to donate in various sizes.
3. Location.... hm. I really liked being on the mall near the Washington Monument. I think it would be great to have it in an open space like that again where we are in easy viewing... it attracted a good number of interested people our way, which was really fun. It was a great, open space with plenty of room to move -- No shade, however, which was hard... And parking there can leave much to be desired. Maybe I responded to this too quickly, bc now I am wondering what other monuments are shady, even moderately.... I will get back to this question.

I'm giving away 40 hoops to the girls and boys club at my home town in Martinsburg, West Virginia. I'm about one and half hours from DC I'm doing this at 10 in the morning so my afternoon is free. I would be able to help in the afternoon. where is everyone meeting., ( I took the day off from work).. If you get a chance visit my web site cafepress.com/allhooping. I'm trying to raise money to help with some of the cost of the hoops from the world hooping day merchandise. Also I am making trading a hoopnotica travel hoop for some kiddie hoops. If anyone else has any kiddie hoops to trake for a travel hoop I would be willing to talk about it. Thanks

Fri, July 25, 2008 - 11:49 AMYou've got two weeks! An event on the mall is easy enough to pull together... just pick a location and time and post to all the lists that you can! We did the north side of the washington monument last year. Everyone can bring all the hoops that they can and voila! World Hoop Day has been manifested!

Tue, July 29, 2008 - 7:58 PMAfter 5pm, I am up for meeting at the mall as well with at least 4 to spare. I am also celebrating hoop day at work! From 3-4 my colleagues from the National Postal Museum will be hooping, most of them for the first time, at the little park across from the musuem/Mass Ave if you feel like stopping by.

Fri, August 1, 2008 - 7:53 AMHow about meeting up around the tidal basin parking lot at the far end of the paddle boat lot. There is shade and evening parking, usually. I will bring a portable sound system and be there around 5 PM. It will be a short walk to the monument from there. Sunset hooping on the mall sounds beautiful. The sound might not work by the monument though...
